Welcome to Castle Hedingham Surgery, where we aim to provide an excellent standard of care in a helpful, friendly and professional environment.

WHO ARE WE?
Castle Hedingham Surgery has served the village of Castle Hedingham and the surrounding area for over 30 years.

Castle Hedingham developed around the Castle, probably now the best preserved Norman keep in the country and the ancient seat of the de Veres, Earls of Oxford. They were given the land by William the Conqueror, and in the thirteenth century they founded a hospital dedicated to St James at the castle gates.

The village was famous for St James well, probably located on the Eastern edge of the village, a freshwater spring celebrated for its miraculous cure of disease.

These days we have no hospital, and the well is long since lost - but we do have an excellent team in our small surgery in the centre of the village. We look forward to meeting you.

PARKING
Official parking for the practice is at the Memorial Hall Car Park. Street parking is also usually available - please take care when driving in the village. The roads are narrow and passers-by may step out unexpectedly.

ACCESS FOR PATIENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
The practice has access for wheelchair users and an adapted downstairs WC. Patients may be dropped off outside our entrance and there is an on-site wheelchair available.

REGISTERING WITH US AS A PATIENT
The practice is open for new registrations and is particularly delighted to welcome families and anyone who would like a personal level of healthcare from a small practice. We accept patients from a wide area extending from Clare in the North to Gosfield in the South, Birdbrook in the West to Little and Great Maplestead in the East. Please ask if in doubt - essentially if you are on our map (see below) you are in our area! A new patient check will be offered with the practice nurse as soon as possible after registration.
